The spirit of the gate house

Your romantic cottage for 2 to 4 people at Hodebert Castle

Located in the heart of Hodebert Castle's park, the Maison de la Grille accommodates up to 4 people in an elegant and intimate entrance pavilion. This charming cottage, ideal for couples or small families (2 adults and 2 children), offers an exceptional base for exploring the Loire Valley castles, remarkable gardens, and the gentle pace of life in the Touraine region.

The entrance pavilion: a haven of privacy

The Maison de la Grille occupies the historic entrance pavilion of the château, built in the 19th century during the major embellishment works of the estate. This unique position, guarding the majestic avenue of lime trees leading to the main courtyard, offers total privacy while being at the heart of the listed park.

Carefully restored with respect for its original architecture, this 60 m² guest house combines old-world charm with modern comfort. It features a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living room with a fireplace (wood provided), a bedroom with a queen-size bed (160 cm), and a second bedroom with two single beds, ideal for children. Equally enjoyable in summer and winter, with its private garden offering breathtaking views of the castle, it is a true haven of peace.

Hiking and nature

Direct access to a GR (long-distance hiking trail) from the property allows for walks or bike rides in the forest within a protected area. The château's 63-hectare historic park, with its centuries-old trees, 19th-century orangery, and heated eco-friendly swimming pool, invites relaxation and contemplation. The estate also houses a Neolithic fixed polishing stone, considered one of the finest in Touraine, bearing witness to human occupation dating back several millennia.

An exceptional historical heritage

The Hodebert estate, whose first records date back to the 16th century, spans three centuries of French history. The current château is a testament to the refined classical architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries. After Henri de Codosny, advisor and steward to King Louis XIV, the estate passed to the Dunoyer family until the Revolution, then was acquired in 1808 by Louis-François-de-Sales de Sarcé. It was under the Sarcé family that the estate experienced its greatest development. They considerably enlarged the property by purchasing the Clarté Dieu Abbey, numerous plots of land, farms, and mills. They also undertook extensive renovations to the château and rebuilt all the outbuildings with great attention to harmony and uniformity. In 2004, Hélie and Ivana de la Bouillerie bought Hodebert back from their family to undertake a complete restoration of this 63-hectare estate, which has been a listed Historic Monument since 1944.
