The essence of the Montmorency Suite

When history meets comfort

The Montmorency Suite is an entire apartment on the ground floor of the château, with its own private entrance, a fully equipped kitchen and two levels. Guests can enjoy complete independence or savour a homemade organic breakfast served in the château’s dining room, just like in a traditional bed and breakfast. But what makes this suite truly unique is that it bears the name of one of the greatest families in French history – the family from which the owner, Ivana, descends.

The Montmorency family: 6 Constables, 12 Marshals of France

The Montmorency family, now extinct, has left its mark on French history like few other lineages. Six Constable – the highest military office of the Ancien Régime –, twelve Marshals of France, several Admirals and Cardinals, numerous Grand Officers of the Crown and Grand Masters of various orders of chivalry: the list is dizzying. These men served the kings of France for centuries, at the very heart of power. Their motto, ‘God help the first Christian baron’, speaks to their long history and their pride. Naming a suite after them was no trivial choice: it was a way of paying tribute to them and keeping their memory alive.

The Duke of Luxembourg, "upholsterer of Notre-Dame"

Upon entering the suite, you will be greeted by a magnificent portrait of François-Henri de Montmorency, Duke of Luxembourg, Grand Marshal of Louis XIV. He was nicknamed the "upholsterer of Notre-Dame"—and with good reason: after each victorious battle, he would cover the cathedral walls with the flags of the foreign regiments he had defeated. A spectacular way to celebrate his victories and assert the power of the Sun King. This portrait is not there by chance. It is one of the many family mementos gathered in this suite, which forms a veritable small Montmorency museum within the château.

A duplex with private entrance and equipped kitchen

Upstairs, the bedroom offers breathtaking views of the park and has an en-suite bathroom. The lower floor features a large, bright living area with a fully equipped kitchen and a tastefully decorated lounge opening onto the garden. Here, you can enjoy lunch, dinner, and relaxation, just like at home – but in a castle.

A recent restoration using high-quality materials

This part of the castle has just been completely restored. We chose high-quality, noble materials to respect the spirit of the place while offering impeccable contemporary comfort. The result is a suite where the old and the new interact naturally, without one overpowering the other.

View of the park and garden

From the upstairs bedroom, the view overlooks the castle grounds – centuries-old trees, tranquil pathways, and meticulously landscaped vistas. Downstairs, the living room opens onto the garden, where you can set up a table for al fresco dining on sunny days. It's a suite that truly breathes.

Homemade organic breakfast

If you book the suite as a bed and breakfast, organic breakfast is included. It is served in the castle's dining room, with all the refinement and art of French living.

Most of the products are made in Hodébert's kitchen by Ivana, the hostess, using organic and high-quality ingredients. The spelt bread is made according to a recipe by Saint Hildegard of Bingen, with organic, non-hybridized flour. The jams are cooked in organic cane sugar, using fruit from the château or neighboring orchards. Organic cheeses or cheeses from nearby farms, homemade organic yogurt with orange blossom… Everything is done to ensure that this experience lives up to the setting.

Two hours from Paris

The Montmorency suite requires a minimum two-night stay. This is the ideal amount of time to fully appreciate this apartment, its independence, its view, and the history it embodies. Just two hours from Paris, it offers a rare escape: modern comfort in a setting steeped in history, nestled within a park that invites you to slow down.

Located on the ground floor of the castle, accessible via a private entrance, the Montmorency Suite is presented as a duplex.
