The spirit of the stable house
Located in the heart of the Hodebert castle park, the Hodebert Stables is the ideal place to meet up with friends or family to visit the Loire castles and enjoy nature.
Hodebert Stables: your charming gîte in the heart of the Loire Valley castles
Nestled in the grounds of Hodebert Castle, the Écuries d’Hodebert guesthouse accommodates up to 8 people in an authentic and peaceful setting. This charming cottage is the ideal starting point for exploring the treasures of the Loire Valley: iconic castles, remarkable gardens, troglodyte cellars, and hiking trails.
The stables: from abandonment to rebirth
The former stables of Hodebert, built in the 19th century by the de Sarcé family as part of a major expansion of the outbuildings, once housed several stalls, a tack room, living quarters for the groom, as well as a forge and a carpentry workshop. This building, a testament to the intense agricultural activity that once animated the estate, had fallen into oblivion.
Virtually abandoned, the stables required extensive restoration to create a comfortable and authentic guesthouse. With its independent access drive winding through the forest, arriving at the stables via the estate's centuries-old woods offers a magical and timeless experience.

Hiking and nature

The château's 63-hectare historic park, with its centuries-old trees, 19th-century orangery, and heated eco-friendly swimming pool, invites relaxation and contemplation. The estate also houses a Neolithic fixed polishing stone, considered one of the finest in Touraine, bearing witness to human occupation dating back several millennia.
Our philosophy
We have furnished this house as if to welcome our loved ones: authenticity, comfort, and conviviality. Les Écuries d’Hodebert is much more than a holiday rental; it's an experience at the heart of the Loire Valley's heritage, where we share our favorite spots and our passion for this exceptional region. Hélie and Ivana de la Bouillerie, owners of the estate since 2004, along with their four daughters, continue a tradition of family hospitality, respecting the history and authenticity of this unique place.
An exceptional historical heritage
The Hodebert estate, first mentioned in the 16th century, is steeped in a fascinating history spanning three centuries. The current château, listed as a Historic Monument since 2009, is the result of three major construction campaigns between the 17th and 18th centuries. Its classical architecture reflects French refinement through the ages.
Since 1675, the estate has belonged to three prominent families. After Henri de Codosny, advisor and steward to King Louis XIV, the château passed into the Dunoyer family until the French Revolution. In 1808, it was acquired by Louis-François-de-Sales de Sarcé, whose descendants significantly expanded the estate, notably adding the stables, orangery, and greenhouses in the 1870s. In 2004, Hélie and Ivana de la Bouillerie bought Hodebert back from their family to continue this legacy and undertake a complete restoration of the 63-hectare estate, which has been a listed Historic Monument since 1944.
