Staying in la chambre passiflore

A real family room

The Passiflore room is decorated with period Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture, an 18th-century solid mahogany castle wardrobe, and family portraits that make this room truly unique. Its window overlooks the castle’s pond and orangery—a calm and orderly view, typically French, that immediately makes you want to stay. Two hours from Paris, this is the kind of room where you put down your suitcase and immediately feel like you’re somewhere else.

Yvonne and the crew of La Brosse

As you enter the room, you will meet the gaze of Yvonne—the Countess of La Chapelle-Crosville, grandmother of the master of the house—in a large portrait from the 1930s. The daughter and granddaughter of crew masters, she embodies a tradition of French hunting passed down from generation to generation. Her features have a calm and confident air about them.

All the memories of the La Brosse crew—paintings, hunting objects, photographs—are gathered in the castle’s stairwell. It’s worth taking a little detour to have a look.

Putsy and Douglas

Yvonne loved dogs. The bedroom bears witness to this with portraits of Putsi and Douglas, her two companions, painted with the same affection that was once reserved for family members. These paintings give the room a warmth that no decoration can truly imitate.

The engravings of Louise de La Vallière

On the walls, a series of romantic engravings recount the life of Louise de La Vallière, favorite of Louis XIV, who renounced the court to end her days in the Carmelite convent. These gentle, melancholic images, in the style of the 19th century, blend naturally with the atmosphere of the room. Hodebert is, in fact, at the center of the former duchy of La Vallière, created by Louis XIV for his mistress and the children he had with her. She was born and raised in Touraine.

The bathroom

It has been completely renovated in a 1920s style, with a cast iron clawfoot bathtub as its centerpiece. The result is elegant without being ostentatious—exactly in keeping with the spirit of the château. Two hours from ParisOur rooms are carefully decorated, each with its own personality. La Passiflore is undoubtedly the one that tells the most stories. In the morning, the view of the pond and the orangery makes you forget Paris – and yet it’s only two hours away.

Breakfast

An organic breakfast is included. It is served in the dining room with all the refinement and art de vivre of France. Most of the products are made in Hodebert’s kitchen by the hostess using high-quality organic ingredients. The spelt bread is made according to a recipe by Saint Hildegard of Bingen using non-hybrid organic flour. The jams are cooked in organic cane sugar with fruit from Hodebert or neighboring orchards. Organic cheeses or cheeses from neighboring farms, homemade organic yogurt with orange blossom…
