This 24-hour endurance car competition takes place on the 24H circuit, a road circuit which uses a section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bugatti.com\/fr\/\">Bugatti<\/a> circuit. This event has been running since 1923 and is the most prestigious race in the world, along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monacograndprixticket.com\/\">Monaco Grand Prix<\/a> and the Indianapolis 500. The event was even ranked the number one world sporting event by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.org\/society\/\">National Geographic Society<\/a> in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The race has over the years inspired similar races around the world and is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiawec.com\/fr\/\">FIA World Endurance Championship<\/a>. Initially, the race was intended to contribute to the development of technical progress and the growth of the automobile. In 1922, the club announced the creation of a new type of competition, an endurance event, even though the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boldor.com\/\">Bol d&rsquo;Or<\/a> had just been created. During this event, teams of two drivers per car would take turns day and night. The first edition took place on 26 and 27 May 1923 with thirty three crews. This race was won by Andr\u00e9 Lagache and Ren\u00e9 L\u00e9onard. They covered 128 laps with an average speed of 92.064 km\/h. It is the most prestigious and oldest endurance race for sports cars and is thus part of the various triple crowns of motor sport.<\/p>\n<p>Many celebrities flock to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, such as actor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/patrickdempsey\/\">Patrick Dempsey,<\/a> who is passionate about motor racing and has taken part in the race three times as a driver.
